I'm an AI engineer and full-stack developer in Peniche, Portugal. I help teams and founders take RAG, agents and LLM features from prototype to production, and I work remotely with clients anywhere in the world.
What I do
I have been building software for more than ten years, for companies like Nestlé, PwC and EDP and for small teams starting from a blank page. Most of the work now is AI: assistants over a company's own documents, agents that call its tools, and LLM features inside a product that already has users.
The part I care about most comes after the demo. Retrieval that finds the right passage, evals that say how often the system is right, guardrails and monitoring for the times it is wrong, and a handover after which the team runs it without me.
The stack is usually React and TypeScript over Python services (Django, FastAPI) and PostgreSQL, shipped with Docker to Kubernetes, OpenShift or serverless platforms such as Cloud Run, with the infrastructure kept as code in Terraform and Helm, on AWS, GCP or Azure.
Background
- Master's Degree in Web Technologies and Systems from Universidade Aberta (2020), with a thesis on immersive visualization of big data on mobile devices.
- One of the editors of the iLRN 2020 conference proceedings, published by IEEE.
- Answering questions on Stack Overflow since 2015, with more than 16,000 reputation.
- I work through my own company, Tiago Martins Peres, Unipessoal Lda, which contracts and invoices the work.
Writing
I write about building with AI and what it changes for the people doing the work, in six languages, each piece read aloud by a clone of my voice (how I built it). It is all in the writing.
